VERNON WHITE

  SHANNON - Services for Vernon Jackson White, 64, who died Friday, Dec. 30th at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following a lengthy illness, will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 2nd in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Nettleton Chapel with the Rev. Mike Brazeal officiating. Burial will be in Doty's Chapel Cemetery in Shannon.
  Mr. White was born in Lee County to Cecil and Helen Whiteside White. He was a lifelong resident of Shannon and a former employee of Nonie's Truck Stop.  He was a Baptist. Mr. White was loved by everyone who knew him. He also loved giving to others and never wanted anything in return.
  Survivors include ten first cousins; two special friends, Tommy Bishop and Brenda Hamby, both of Shannon; his caregiver, Nonie Knowles of Shannon. He was preceded in death by his parents.
  Pallbearers are Tommy Bishop, Elbert "Red" Sullivan, Sr., Eugene Sullivan, Jr., Jeffrey Sullivan, Tommy Whiteside, and Jerry Bishop.
  Visitation will be from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 1st and will continue from 10:00 a.m. until time for services Monday, Jan. 2nd at the funeral home.

You will be missed dearly. You would have given the shirt off your back to help someone. The truck stop would not been the same without you. You brought joy to all that worked there, even though we did have our differences at times. But we all seemed to get over it. Now you are in the Lord's hands, looking down on us all.
