AMORY
- Services for Jamie Jordan (Peggy) Thornton, 81, who died
Monday, January 23rd at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center
in Amory, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 27th in the
Tisdale-Lann Memorial Aberdeen Chapel with Rev. David Harrell
officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Thornton was born in Ashland, Mississippi to James Franklin Jordan
and Marietta Reid Jordan. She has lived in Nashville, Tennessee,
Kansas City, Kansas, Memphis, Tennessee, New Brunswick, New
Jersey, Aberdeen, Mississippi and Amory, Mississippi. She
graduated from Ashland High School and attended Northeast
Mississippi Community College. Mrs. Thornton attended First
United Methodist Church and Faith Presbyterian Church. She was a
member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She worked as
secretary of The Upper Room and was a homemaker, wife and
mother.
She leaves a daughter, Jamye Kaye Thornton Doherty and husband, David, of
Amory; a niece, Dianne Wilson Hammack and husband, Henry, of
Aberdeen; three grandchildren, Jordan Doherty, Christian Doherty
and Trey Doherty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Andrew
Thornton, Jr.,; a sister, Virginia Jordan Wilson; a brother,
Dallas Reid Jordan.
Pallbearers will be Jake Brownlee, Jesse Gillentine, Justin Posey,
Unterior Gladney, Corbin White and O'Darius Lowe.
Visitation will take place from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m., Thursday, January
26th, at the funeral home.
