AMORY -- Myrtis
Laverne McClendon Tartt, 84, passed away on Tuesday, July 4,
2017, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Hospital in Amory. She was
born on September 29, 1932 in Stuttgart, AR to James and Etta
Golden McClendon. She was a native of AR, but had resided in
Bigbee for the past 58 years, was a retired seamstress at the
age of 75, a founder of Eureka Baptist Church in March of 1970,
and a member of Cason Baptist Church for the past 23 years. She
enjoyed working in her garden, reading her Bible, cooking, going
fishing, watching television, attending church & being with her
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at
the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton
with the Rev. Shane Crawford and Bro. Donnie Sloan officiating.
Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Johnson (Gerald) of
Bigbee; three sons, Jimmy Tartt, Billy Tartt (Janice), & Terry
Tartt (Wendy), all of Bigbee; one brother, Wayne McClendon (Sue)
of Palestine, TX; one daughter-in-law, Dilma Tartt Bradley of
Bigbee; two sister-in-laws, Jean McClendon of Aberdeen and
Loretta McClendon of Palestine, TX; 15 Grandchildren; 27 great
grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; & a host of nieces
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Babe" Tartt;
her parents; one son, Rex Tartt; three sisters, Odell, Hazel, &
Molly; six brothers, Austin, Kit, Kelsey, Ott, Aaron, & Roy
Pallbearers will be Steve Johnson, Shane Tartt, David Tartt,
Wesley Hendrix, Michael Reeves, & Cody Johnson.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5
to 8 p.m. at
the funeral home.
