Leon “Noochie” Woods, age 83, died Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at his residence in Aberdeen. He was born August 10, 1935, to Rufus C. Woods and Locke Irene Merchants Woods in Hamilton, MS. He was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and was a member of Hamilton United Methodist Church. He retired from Walker Manufacturing after thirty-four years. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Ann Lackie Woods of Aberdeen, MS; two sisters, Dora Rye of Hamilton, MS, and Margie Griggs of Hamilton, MS; one brother, Grafton Woods of Hamilton, MS; two grandchildren, Dell Lackie and Courtney Armstrong (Blake); two great-grandchildren, Carson Armstrong and Jalyn Armstrong; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Pauline Woods; two brothers, Rufus Woods and George Woods.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2018, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2018, in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Roger McGrew, Bro. Danny Rushing and Bo Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers are Bo Hill, Rufus Woods, George Woods, Jr., Louis Corbell, Mike Smith, and Rayburn Reeves. Honorary pallbearers are Men of Hamilton United Methodist Church.
