Services for Charles Edward Mobley, 96, who died Saturday, February
6th at Pioneer Community Hospital of Aberdeen, will be held at 11:00
a.m., Monday, February 8th in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Aberdeen
Chapel with Rev. Chris Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon
Cemetery.
Mr. Mobley was born in Calhoun City to Charles Coleman and Gertrude
Denley Mobley. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1933.
He was employed at the Gulf Ordnance Plant in Prairie and was a
quality control inspector at Walker Manufacturing Company, retiring
in 1979 after 21 years of service. He served as president of the
Walker Credit Union for several decades.
He was ordained a deacon at Bethel Baptist Church in Darracott and was an
active member and the oldest member of First Baptist Church in
Aberdeen. He had taught Sunday School, was a choir member and served
on numerous committees in his 65 years of membership. He was a
trustee of Lebanon Cemetery, loved the Lord, his family, and enjoyed
gardening and was an avid reader.
He leaves three daughters, Jannette Peugh and Sara Poss and husband,
Charles, all of Aberdeen; Gloria Jackson and husband, Joe, of
Hartsville, South Carolina; a son, Charles Edward Mobley, Jr. and
wife, Sharon, of Concord, North Carolina; two sisters, Mildred
Roberts of Aberdeen and Viola Moon and husband, Chester, of Clark
Lake, Michigan; a special friend, Opal Riggs; grandchildren: Charles
Mobley (Diane) of Maiden, North Carolina; Janet Ramey (Bill) of
Raleigh, North Carolina; Stephen Peugh (Joanna), of Shannon,
Mississippi; Susan Fox (David) of Cumming, Georgia; Todd Jackson
(Tammie) of Hartsville, South Carolina; Jennifer Riggisn (Danny) of
Hartsville, South Caroline; Greg Poss (Lisa) of Caledonia; David
Poss (Kelly) of Amory; Brian Poss of Aberdeen; Thomas Austin
(Autumn) of Monroe, North Caroline, Christopher Wilson (Harriet) of
Monroe, North Carolina; 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 years, Etta Mae
Gilreath Mobley; an infant daughter; two sisters, Louise Gilreath
and Martha Lenoir; three brothers, Coleman, Denley and Wilbur Fred
Mobley, and a son-in-law, Bill Peugh.
Pallbearers are Joe Jackson, Charles Poss, Stephen Peugh, Greg Poss,
David Poss and Brian Poss. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Arthur Brown
and the Adult 3 Sunday School Department of First Baptist Church.
