FAYE HONEYCUTT

HAMILTON - Ida Faye Ratliff Honeycutt, 92, died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at River Place Nursing Center in Amory, MS. She was born on May 5, 1925 to Benjamin Roy Ratliff and Velma Cleo Carmack Ratliff in Baldwyn, MS. She graduated from Baldwyn High School in 1943 and began working at the Gulf Ordnance Plant in Prairie, MS during the height of WWII. There she met James Grady Honeycutt, whom she married in 1945.

Faye and Grady made their home in Hamilton, MS where they owned and operated Honeycutt’s General Merchandise. She later worked as a seamstress at South Monroe Sportswear, using the sewing skills for which she would become known throughout the county. She was an expert at everything from simple alterations to creations of children’s clothing and wedding dresses. She was a faithful member of Center Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton, MS where she served as a children’s Sunday school teacher for twenty-five years. She was a charter member of the Young at Heart group, remaining an active participant for the remainder of her life, especially enjoying biweekly gatherings for dominos. Her favorite activities included daily journaling, caring for her flower garden, and baking for friends and family. Her fried apple pies will be missed by all. 

Faye is survived by her son, Dean (Susan) Honeycutt, Hamilton; grandchildren Jonathan (Tessa) Honeycutt, Hamilton; Jeremy (Deana) Honeycutt, Caledonia; Matt Honeycutt, Hamilton, Deana (Dwight) McComb, Amory; sister Georgene Chaffin, San Jose, California; brother Roy Eugene Ratliff, Hamilton; great-grandchildren Dallten Honeycutt, Elizabeth Honeycutt, Jamison McComb, Westlee Honeycutt, Will McComb, Marlie Honeycutt, Ransom Honeycutt and Audrey Kate McComb; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Honeycutt; son Jimmy Honeycutt; daughter-in-law Debbie Angle Honeycutt; brother John H. Ratliff. 

Her funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Center Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton, MS, with Bro. Terry Edwards and Dr. Dwight McComb officiating. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen, MS, with a time for additional visitation at the church prior to the service from 1 until 3 p.m. pallbearers will be Jonathan Honeycutt, Jeremy Honeycutt, Matt Honeycutt, Dwight McComb, Dallten Honeycutt, Westlee Honeycutt, Will McComb, Ransom Honeycutt. Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Evans, Robert Scott, and the deacons of Center Hill Baptist Church.
