ABERDEEN  Buford C. Easter, Sr. was born January 18, 1917 to Burley Payton Easter and Della Frances Whitaker Easter near Gattman, Mississippi. He married Nellie Florence Weaver Easter on March 22, 1941 in Aberdeen. She died on May 25, 2012. He lived in Monroe County all his life and attended Monroe County Schools. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church since 1949 where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, board member and trustee in the past years. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1935 and 1936 serving in Tupelo, Mississippi and in Utah. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in combat in Normandy, France and Luxembourg, Germany. He served with the 4th Infantry Division, 42nd Field Artillery Battalion and close Field Artillery with 1st and 3rd Infantry. He was a truck driver hauling survey equipment in combat operations under blackout conditions during shelling and strafing attacks. He received the EAME medal with five bronze stars. He was the former Fire Chief of the Aberdeen Fire Department serving from August 14, 1954 until his retirement January 31, 1982.

Services will be Sunday, January 14th at 2:00 p.m. in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, January 13th from 4:00  until 6:00 p.m.. at  the funeral home. 

 Survivors include one son Buford C. Easter, Jr. (Frances); two daughters Amy Easter White (Ed) and Carol Easter Rieves; six grandchildren Michael Barry Easter, Melissa Easter Recuero (John), Matthew Thomas Gilmore (El'Lane), Marie Gilmore Harrington, Mark Glen Rieves (Suzanne) and Melody Rieves Naramore; fourteen great grandchildren Courtney and Emily Easter, Justin Recuero (NIkki), Krystin Recuero Patridge (Matt), Payton and John Thomas Gilmore, Daniel and Nathan Harrington, Savanna and Brandon Naramore, Jackson, Spencer, Annsley and Bennett Rieves, Jamie Tipton of New Jersey and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nellie; two brothers Claude Easter and Joe Easter; three sisters Maudie Allen, Adell Franklin and Jewell Ransom and a son-in-law Herbert Rieves. Pallbearers will be family. Honorary pallbearers will be Fire Department.
