ABERDEEN - Roy Derrell Doss, age 84, died Wednesday, January 3rd at The Blake in Oxford, MS. He was born September 11, 1933 to Albin Roy Doss and Syble Gann Doss in McCondy, MS. He was a 1951 graduate of Houston High School and graduate of Mississippi State College. He served two years in the U. S. Army after graduating from Mississippi State. He later received a master's degree in adult education from Mississippi State University. He began his professional career with the Mississippi Coorperative Extension Service in 1958 in Iuka, Mississippi. He moved to Aberdeen in 1968 and retired as County Agent for Monroe County and  was an active member of St. Mark Methodist Church. He received the Distinguished Service Award with the Extension Service. He served as president of the Monroe County Farm Bureau Board and received the Excellence in Leadership Award through The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation. 

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 5th at St. Mark Methodist Church in Aberdeen with Dr. Terry Stubblefield and Bro. Ken Corley officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Johnson Doss; one son, Derrell Doss (Katrina) of Oxford; two grandchildren, Katy Margaret Doss of Oxford and Abi-Leigh Doss of Oxford.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers. 

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time, Friday, January 5th, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Mark Methodist Church, 20200 Highway 8 West, Aberdeen, MS 39730.
