ABERDEEN - Services for Evelyn
Sumner Bowen, 92, who died Monday, August 23 at Gilmore Regional
Medical Center in Amory, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday,
August 26, in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Aberdeen chapel with Dr.
George Forbes officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest
Cemetery.
Mrs. Bowen was born in Okolona to William Lee and Maude Gregory Sumner.
She had lived in Aberdeen since 1934 and retired as supervisor for
Puckett Sportswear in 1980. She was a member of First Christian
Church.
She leaves a nephew and wife who were her caregivers, Ronnie and Jeanette
Hall of Aberdeen; three cousins, Mildred Conerly, Charles Sumner and
Thelma Ghere, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hugh Hamilton Bowen;
three brothers, Willie, Leon and Dillard Gene Sumner; three sisters,
Gladys S. Ferguson, Laverne S. Hall and Odell S. Hollowell.
Pallbearers will be Joe Howard Bowen, Billy Herndon, Leonard Hussey, Ed
White, Jessie Tate, Wren West, and Bud Bowen. Honorary pallbearers
will be elders and deacons of First Christian Church, and Walter
Lann, Jr.
